More than 50 kid-friendly recipes, each with a full-color fun illustration and recipe photo. Nutrition facts are calculated for each recipe. Kids can record their favorite snacks in the My Favorite Recipes log. All recipes have been tested in the Better Homes and Gardens Test Kitchen.
My partner and I have a VERY picky 4 yr. old eater, and he has already enthusiastically devoured many of the recipes in this book. If it's called a "snack," it's a mealtime hit, even if it has the exact same ingredients he refused before seeing this book. Best of all (so far) are the real fruit popsicles -- these are brilliant! No dyes, a bit of real sugar, organic melons, and organic blueberries PLUS our little guy gets to push the buttons on the blender AND he's learning to be patient while they freeze. What a gem of a cookbook.
Pretty impressive cookbook for your young chef

I really am impressed with this cookbook already and we haven't even begun to cook from it! There is a picture of each recipe, sometimes the book doubles up and shows it with another recipe. I think this is very helpful for the young cook! The photos are nice and look great to eat and the cartoon illustrations are cute for girls and not too girly for boys! The book has a Snack time Food Rules like: On Your Mark - Read the entire recipe from beginning to end. Ask yourself" Do I know exactly what I'm suppose to do? Check and make sure you have all of the ingredients and gather your equipment that you'll need to compete the recipe. Get Set - Wash your hands Go! - measuring exactly, finish each step before you start another.... Victory Lap - A+ for adding this one Better Homes and Gardens: Put leftovers away. Put away all ingredients, equipment. Load dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Wipe counters and table clean and throw away all trash. It's even easier to teach your beginning cook to clean as they cook that way they don't have a whole sink full of dirty dishes. Each recipe includes nutritional facts per serving and the last page is for your children / pre-teen / teen to write down their favorite recipes list. I've included a list of what is in the book and when we cook some of the recipes I'll edit this and add our thoughts. Better Homes and Garden's do an awesome job and also kid test these recipes, so it's gotta be good. It's just a question of what recipes your family will be your favorites. The book is also spiral bound so it lays nicely while cooking. My only grip is the pages are thin and can easily tear out of the book and if you have a beginning cook just keep their messy hands away from the book. I'm sure you could wipe off the pages, but if it's a lot of liquid it will damage the page.
