Smokescream is a collection of 45 poems written by Ashley Diane. The book begins with a girl who feels deeply, but avoids showing her emotions. She chose to escape through stoner life, makeup, and self-isolation. With the purpose of seeking healing, she began to write to process her emotions in a healthier way, and thus Smokescream was born. As the layers began to fall away, her spiritual journey began and healing took place within. The book ends with her coming to terms with the fact that she is an emotional being, and that this is one of her greatest strengths. The poem topics range from family challenges, to self-acceptance, falling in love, and discovering sisterhood.
