This book assumes that you already know a little about finance but can't decide how to invest: - Do you buy single stocks, including your employer's? It's much safer to go with broad-market ETFs. - Do you put everything in stocks for maximum return, or go on the safer side, keeping some fraction of your investments in bonds? Likely you will want a mix, but one that has nothing to do with your age. There are many considerations for this--e.g., in taxable accounts you should have stocks and Treasuries, and in tax-efficient accounts stocks and bonds. - Are you temped to invest into things that recently went up--bitcoin maybe? Bad idea. What went up last year is as likely to go up next year as anything else, or it can also be overpriced and go down. - Are you comfortable with your investments right now, without even knowing their market prices? You should be if you invested using a well-thought-out strategy. The book comes with a financial planning spreadsheet, downloadable from the author's website. The last chapter has the details and a tutorial for how to use it.
