Electric Power Systems are composed of complex equipment and facilities distributed over extensive geographic regions, with the objective of producing, transmitting and distributing electricity. The expansion of infrastructure and modernization of clean energy technology is a fundamental objective to combine economic growth with the environment. In this context, blockchain stands out as a technology that does not require an intermediary institution. The general objective of the study is to investigate new ways of transacting electricity through Smart Grids and, as specific objects, to verify the current energy trading models; review the literature on microgrids and distributed generation; review the literature on Smart Grids; deepen the study of blockchain technology; deepen the study of the point-to-point (P2P) model for energy trading; present aspects of the P2P energy transaction, being positive and/or negative.
