It wasn't always easy growing up a Polish Catholic kid in the 70's and 80's. When I wasn't busy pursuing my dream of being Air Band Queen Extraordinaire, I was defending myself against two older brothers, shoddy child safety measures and a host of nuns who wanted me to eat school lunch tuna casserole. And that was all before junior high I was up against a lot: glasses, braces, teacher's pet status, and less-than-stellar athletic skills.
