A fine and brilliant collection of eight superb San Diego-based poets.
Published by Ted Burke , 4 years ago
I speak as one of the poets in the collection, so my view is slanted, naturally, but taking myself out of the equation, I can vouch without reservation for the other seven poets. The wonders, wisdom, and experienced nuance each poet brings to their work is a mastery to behold and marvel at. Speaking in a general way on behalf of my fellow poets, there is a shared respect for craft and the telling, precise detail as it fits into the intimate confines of human speech; each voice is different, each voice commands a different set of words that convey the reflectively elusive quality of experience in recollection, there is richness and music of dense yet sensual textures . Think of my poems what you will, but any lover of modern poets should consider the glory that is the writing of Sarai Austin, Paul Dresman, Peter Dragin, Patti O'Donnell, Kate Watson, Richard Astle and Bonnie Rosecliffe. There is not a weak page in this splendid volume.
