Small businesses have encountered many challenges in the post-COVID economy and social climate (Akpan et al., 2022). One of the financial hardships that most small business owners faced during and after COVID-19 was liquidity challenges, which made it hard for small businesses to meet their short-term obligations such as payroll and other financial obligations. Small businesses also experienced losses of revenue, sales, profit, which led to employees getting laid off and business closures (Kalogiannidis, 2020). The use of online accounting applications such as cloud computing improved the delivery of services and communications during crisis management such as COVID-19 and played a role in ensuring the profitability, viability and continuity of many small businesses since.
