DUE TO THE CONTROVERSIAL NATURE OF THE SUBJECT MATTER, THIS BOOK IS NOT AVAILABLE IN SPAIN, FRANCE OR PORTUGALSLUMBERLUST What happens when political correctness goes too far and becomes dangerous? In today's techno-culture, every conceivable viewpoint seems to spark a special interest group, complete with its own mandate, mantra and mania. Are these ists and ims populated only by flakes and radicals, or is there a practical method in their madness? As these movements become increasingly militant, they often gravitate toward violence. Will grievance politics largely remain a source of entertainment for the bored and discontented, or will its call to the lunatic fringe be answered in full? Perhaps most importantly, where will all this happen? The Story Minipaun, a First Nations activist from the middle of nowhere journeys to Quebec, meeting up with a treacherous separatist faction, the Front de lib ration de Ch nier. Her travelling partner is a lingering ETA sympathizer from the Basque region of Spain. Having simmered for decades since the October crisis of 1970, the FLC now plots a revolution to establish Quebec as a sovereign nation. In support of the FLC, a curious amalgamation of opposing factions grudgingly set aside their differences to unite. But can the antagonistic camps overcome their peculiarities, prejudices and grudges? Is the taking of Quebec even possible, or is it inevitable?...and who will quietly back the FLC, both during and after the coup? Critique, commentary or Comedy? Slumberlust is a pseudo-serious fable told through an all-female cast of anti-heroes. Consider if this tale carries a message, or if it's merely a wry testament to absurdity. The sheer implausibility of the story hints at a deeper understanding of...what? An enigmatic work designed to tease, or perhaps antagonize the reader. Does it offer social criticism, political commentary or sheer mockery? Perhaps. More fittingly, does it wander the realms of dark humour, satire or anti-humour? You decide.
