I started writing these "new tiny poems"--more like Zen koans, really, than the kind of poems I'd been writing in my final years in Pittsburgh--out of the blue, right after I moved to Olympia, another part of my general downsizing process I assumed. I didn't think much of them at first, more like placeholders--some of them were actually texts or emails sent to friends--until the next wave came along, but I have come to like them quite a lot, for their brevity, their clarity, their sonorous discipline, their subtle mystery, and I will just keep writing them until, well, they stop.
