Written by a nostalgic UC Santa Cruz alumnae a decade after graduating, "Sleeping Boardwalk and Other Poems" is a melancholy look-back at the moments that make us. It is a love letter to the seaside town of Santa Cruz and the surrounding forests and coves of the greater Bay Area. Memories that fill these pages are decorated with delicious images of nature and animals-yet haunted by ghosts of the past and monsters of the present.
This collection of poetry is about the freedom of young adulthood-and the terror of what happens when the rose-colored glasses begin to crack. A smooth blend of the ordinary with the extraordinary, the relatable with the remarkable, the peculiar with the plain, the natural with the supernatural, and the past with the present evoke the layered emotions that we all feel around the place we call "home."
