The day started like any typical Thursday, morning traffic, and the news until 7:01 a.m., when people across the world began to collapse starting in Boston. It happens at the same time for the next seventeen hours. The only thing unusual about the day is the electromagnetic storm caused by the sun, which happened last in 1869. Satellite and communications are out and thirty-four million people in the United States (eleven percent of the population) have fallen into a coma unlike any that neurologists have seen before. Dr. Janeen Corbett's job is to take care of the comatose and work with the CDC to find a way to wake them up amongst the looting and mass chaos. A religious sect is claiming the apocalypse has arrived and that the comatose victims are Satan's spawn and must die. When they finally begin to wake up with supernatural powers, telepathy, telekinetic abilities, and the power to heal, our government starts to wonder what they are really capable of and how dangerous they actually are.
