Murder, Aliens and never sleeping. It's not as fun as it sounds. Arrows, a group of humans kidnapped by aliens thousands of years ago, are now refugees on Earth and have a very special type of otherness. Despite having lived on a different planet, they are very similar to current Earth day humans except they have energy and emotional powers never seen on Earth.
Detective Kyler Barrett is also an outsider, as she does not sleep. At all. This creates an affinity with this new group of humans, leading her to investigate crimes related to their lives, twenty years after they crashed on Earth. But when dead Arrow bodies start showing up with their spinal cords removed, Kyler is thrown into a world of biological commercialization and alien religion.
It doesn't help that she finds the consultant on the case, Lennox, to not only be mysterious, attractive, and rather annoying but that he finds out about her secret and won't stop trying to investigate her insomnia mystery.
