The scriptures present a metaphor of Jesus slaying Leviathan, the mythical Hebraic seven-headed sea serpent, to describe his second coming. The details of his coming, and events leading up to it, are presented also in images like the four horsemen of the apocalypse, in parables like the wicked tenants and the sower, and in straight-forward prophesies like a shower of burning objects from space. Taken together, these create a realistic description of the second coming. Many details given imply other logically necessary details as well. Like what happens if a mountain-sized object from space hits the Dead Sea. What are the effects. These later details do not add anything to the scripture, they just refuse to reduce the story that's given. What results is a text-driven faithful comprehensive version of the real second coming of Jesus. Seeing all the pieces of the story pulled together in one place illuminates the story like never before. It dispels myths, collapsed prophesies, and false expectations about the events. Having a good accurate picture in our minds of the events is very helpful in directing us to make specific practical preparations to help our families and other Christians who will suffer in the tribulation while we prepare our souls for his coming.
