Excellent resource, but kids want to read it!

Greene writes a comprehensive and unbiased look at slavery. She includes many primary source quotes from both Blacks and Whites of the time to illustrate the lives of enslaved peoples. The books details make it a handy resource for teachers as well as reading for students interested in a more in-depth look at slavery. It includes many facts that are normally only in more intimidating texts. The book has many photos of blacks, which can invite even the most reluctant reader to pick up this information rich book.
