Sketchbook II: Drawings created around Snead Island

SKETCHBOOK II presents more than one hundred and fifty drawings by Mogens V. Melander. Each drawing shows as a printed plate: full-page, one-sided, and without distracting text and page numbers. The book also contains information and commentary about each drawing. The drawings represent a snowbird's view of Snead Island and the surrounding area. This island is located in Florida south of Tampa Bay along Manatee River. Many drawings were created in the tranquility of Emerson Point Preserve, a park on the island. The yachts at Snead Island Boat Works provided another source of inspiration - especially after dark. Most drawings were created on location using pencils varying in hardness from 6H to 9B with a pointed eraser for highlighting. In addition, the book also contains related studio work in other black-and-white media including ink, pastel, watercolor pencils, and etching.
