Shanghai - one of the world's great cities, with a population of more than 24 million people. As the symbol of China's 21st century growth, Shanghai has become one of the most vibrant locations in the world, an eclectic mix of modern living with old culture. It now attracts visitors from all over the world - some as tourists, to visit the city and its many sights, some as residents, hoping to make a new life in the grand metropolis. And me? Well, I went to Shanghai to visit my uncle, a resident of Shanghai for the last decade, and to learn more about a culture I had never experienced before. I saw some of Shanghai's most visited sights, learned about the history of China and discovered more than I had ever known about daily life in one of the world's largest cities. And all along the way, I kept a daily journal of my activities, sharing my journey with my family, my friends, and all those who wanted to learn - a journal that I hope, now, that you will enjoy as well.Six Weeks in Shanghai is based on the travel journal and blog at rizzopolis.tumblr.com, with additional commentary and photography from the author, Mark Rizzo.
