These six Studies are intended as a supplement to the The Art Of Accompaniment On The Guitar, particularly Volumes 2 and 3. They contain material for improving technique but also ideas about composition on the guitar and ways to approach it. The Studies are progressive in difficulty. Good fingering is crucial to good guitar playing. It is important to think carefully about the left hand, if not thought through the hand can end up stranded in the wrong place on the neck and leave a nasty jump which can easily go wrong or be heard by the listener causing a break in the sound. I have considered with attention all the left hand fingering in the studies to try and achieve a performance where the listener is not aware of movement on the neck which can be distracting to the music. It does sometimes appear to make the music more difficult to play but it is always worth the effort and the satisfaction of a good performance more than makes up for the hard work.
