Six Months @ Camp: A Drug Trafficker's Story

Padilla's autobiographical look into the international drug trade will leave you reeling for more. Padilla sets the tone of "Six Months..."with a historical opening portion of the if's, and's, and buts, of the realm of trafficking cocaine. Padilla then changes gears to thread a vividly intense book full of gut-wrenching scenarios and tongue and cheek characters that seem all too fitting to be found in the subversive realm of the drug trade. With a subtle use of language and a pension for sly comical rhetoric, Six Months at Drug Camp is a gritty book that melds into a very smooth enjoyable read. Broken up into concise sections Padilla gives the reader enough factual information to regurgitate knowledgeable tidbits concerning the sordid profession of drug trade at cocktail party; while filling the reader with enough candid in your face verbiage like, "The marijuana business is done with a hand-shake, the cocaine Business is done with a gun" to leave a reader feeling like they are in fact the bad asses. Seldom does the book stray from its objective of offering a sharp and knowledgeable first hand account of the very high -highs and the abysmal downs (Prison, court, threats, etc.) of the Cocaine trafficking business.
