Rachel, the second, but most beloved wife of Hebrew Patriarch, Jacob, father of the Twelve Tribes of Israel, is the subject of these poems. SITTING ON MY FATHER'S IDOLS: RACHEL SPEAKS gives imaginative answers to the question, "If Rachel could speak to us today, what might she have to say?" Each poem is introduced by a Biblical reference and arranged in the order presented in Scripture. Family conflict in sharing a husband with a sister, jealousy, infertility, migration, even rape, are some of the subjects of these poems.
