Book Overview

This twenty-five-year-old woman never wanted to be a nun, but she was forced into it by an overwhelming father-an attorney and staunch Catholic. Her convent sent her to get a master's degree in English without consulting her, and vows of obedience or not, she got tired of her life being pushed around. She didn't have to wear a habit while at school and befriended a man named Derrick and stumbled into a romance with him, which led to her pregnancy. The story begins when she is three months along and just starting to show. Decisions must be made. She cannot see Derrick, for he is on the run from the law, and there is a warrant for his arrest regarding something he did not do. The need to contact each other is urgent. She returns to the convent, but she doesn't know where he is, and he can't contact her without her strict Mother Superior finding out. Contact eventually comes, but it's at a funeral for Garret, Derrick's identical brother. Because of some mishaps, everyone presumes that it is Derrick's funeral. A lot must be unscrambled.
