Siren and the Shield

By: Decker, David

After being shunned by his fellow police officers for exposing corruption in their ranks, Eric Anderson is hoping his transfer to New Haven will be a fresh start. While responding to a routine call on his first shift with his new partner, they have a chance encounter with a suspect who gives the department its first lead into the Elm City's most disturbing unsolved mystery: a string of inexplicable deaths baffling the police for nearly a year. Victims are found with blackened, burnt eyes and frozen skin-as if their essence were scorched out through their eyes, leaving their bodies deathly cold to the touch. With the medical examiner unable to determine a cause of death, the city is left whispering about what might be stalking its streets.

While acclimating to his new life, Eric goes to see a popular local band at a popular music club. Sparks fly, igniting a passion between him and the lead singer, Desiree. Did they meet by chance, and what are the true consequences of their connection? Is it possible for their relationship to endure as tensions escalate, new bodies are discovered, and the police try to close in on the killer?
