Missing some groups

I really like this book, but was surprised to see that it was missing several major groups or musicians including Def Leppard and "big hair bands" like motley Crew and Winger to name a few along with one hit wonders Danny Wilson, T'Pau, and Martika to name a few. Otherwise it is a great book to have. It basically highlights the larger acts of each decade and at 300+ pages in hard cover form it is well worth the $5.99 I paid for it.

"Singles: Six Decades of Hot Hits & Classic Cuts" is simply not to be missed.

"Singles: Six Decades of Hot Hits & Classic Cuts" is one of those glitzy titles that makes the perfect eye-catching, impressive gift or public library display. It's presented in a thick, oversized format but requires a British pop focus to fully appreciate - and also an affection for singles which have provided the sound tracks for memorable moments. Individual single hits are the focus here, using plenty of colorful photos, blending in an overall history of popular music, and profiling and impact of radio and TV on single hits. With its coverage of such hits, "Singles: Six Decades of Hot Hits & Classic Cuts" is simply not to be missed.

Awesome book!

Being a music geek, I picked this book up at BJ's (for $20). I own many Billboard books, but none of those are much fun as this. Each year has 12 to 20 songs' release dates, record labels and numbers, and peak numbers for both the US and the UK chart plus anywhere from a paragraph to a whole page explaining the history of every song included from 1954 to 2006. Interesting general pop music history essays show up every once in a while. There are well-known songs and songs I have never heard. Every page is in color. It's a great book to have and a steal at the $20 I paid for it.
