Single Mom Seeking: Playdates, Blind Dates, and Other Dispatches from the Dating World

When she hit 30, single mom and romance columnist Rachel Sarah realized that she had been in domestic overdrive too long. Years of dishing up macaroni and cheese, picking Barbie accessories up off the rug, mopping the kitchen floor, and trying to get over her ex had all but shut out the possibility of dating and hot sex again. When her daughter turned three and stopped nursing, a switch was flipped-her libido was back. And so was her need to find a man.But motherhood had changed her. Where once she had been a free-spirited adventuress, now she was first and foremost a mom, dedicated completely to her daughter's well-being. In this touching, sexy, and laugh-out-loud funny memoir, Sarah chronicles her ongoing search for the One as she remains a dedicated and involved mom. It's not easy crossing over from the land of playdates, dress-up, and raising her daugher on her own to the new frontier of match.com, speed dating, singles groups, jdate, and hooking up with men she meets through friends, at the grocery store, or at the pool with her daughter. Because whenever she thinks about dating Him, she realizes it's not just about her anymore.

A must-read for any single mom...

Dating as a single mother is quite possibly one of the most challenging adventures I've ever been on. During a week when I felt like I'd never figure this out I went searching for some help. I found Single Mom Seeking. I couldn't put it down. Devouring every page, I was often nodding my head, smiling, crying, laughing. Realizing that you're not alone is empowering enough, but also being able to live vicariously through Rachel's dating adventures means you can learn from her mistakes and her successes. This is a must read for any single mom who is ready to start dating again. Actually, if you can, read it before you even get back out there.

Most Single Moms Can Identify with Rachel Sarah

This real-life memoir is a raw, honest portrayal of Rachel Sarah's life trying to find love as a single mom. I admire her completely for being so honest about her romantic relationships after having a baby. I think most single moms can identify with her. So many times through this book I found myself repeating "I've done that". Such a great book and a motivator for us single moms to get out and DATE!

Entertaining and heartfelt

Like another consumer reviewer, I found Rachel Sarah's book while researching titles that suited my current (and brand new) status. This is ultimately an encouraging story - full of 'laugh out loud' humor. Because Rachel has dating down to a science I picked up a number of great tips, i.e. "LISTEN TO THOSE RED FLAGS!" She's the queen of recognizing red flags, yet not always paying attention to them. We all do it when judging guys - and it's our own weird patterns and compulsions that allow us to discount issues that should scream, "Run, don't walk, away from this dude." So, even if you're not a parent, Rachel's parade of characters and subsequent saucy details, should grab you by the knickers and shake some sense into you.

I'd recommend this book to men

I used to date a single mom. I got so exasperated that she used her toddler as an excuse for everything, I gave up. I felt too much was being demanded of me too soon in the relationship. I read Rachel Sarah's book to get a better understanding. I was entertained while I learned about how hormones affect mood, self-esteem, sexual desire, sleep etc. while the single mom is struggling with her impossible juggling act. It made me laugh. It made me want to cut my old flame some slack. I think I'll give that her a call ...

Treat yourself to this wonderfully honest book!

Rachel Sarah offers a frank and candid autobiographical account of the true life of a single mom looking for love and romance. Comfort and reassurance for all of us who have felt confusion and doubt in the quest for romance abound in this provocative account. Single moms will recognize the inevitable emotional conflicts and moments of self doubt chronicled in this highly readable and engrossing memoir. Just like a night out with your best friends, this book reminds us that men come and go, but girlfriends are forever.
