Dr. Lawrence is refreshingly honest and insightful

Dr. Lawrence is refreshingly honest and insightful. I first read the book because I met Dr. Lawrence as a youth and wanted to hear what she had to say. I kept reading the book because it was downright captivating! Even though I am no longer single, Dr. Lawrence's words rang true and real to many of the experiences I felt and still feel on one level or another as an African American Christian woman. Her unique style of blending counseling, poetry, and straight-up preaching hit me right where I live. Her realism was greatly appreciated. Thank you Dr. Lawrence for keeping it real. Much Respect! Single & Waiting

In SINGLE & WAITING, Dr. Jacqueline Lawrence shares some of the dating dilemmas she has encountered as a single, Christian, African-American woman. In an impressive medley of poetry, thoughts, and inspiration she encourages women to set their sights on God, please Him, and avoid the many temptations that arise in dating. She also teaches that women must first become whole and complete instead of looking for a man to complete us. Many single women become set on being in a relationship and are led to settle for someone who isn't necessarily the person for them. Dr. Lawrence teaches against this and instead urges women to be happy with being single and afford extra time to being in devotion with God. A definite asset to the book are the various poems -- poems in which it's obvious the author has reached deep into her past experiences -- poems many women will immediately relate to. By reading her words, one can hopefully pick up the necessary pieces, regain their confidence and faith in God, and also learn that being single may be the appropriate season for them at that particular time. SINGLE & WAITING is an enlightening book; one I would definitely recommend to those unable to celebrate who they are or those who are unsatisfied in being single. Reviewed by Tee C. African American Sistah keeps it real about being single

This book of poems offers a real perspective on being single to anyone who is in touch with his/her feelings. I've thought about so many things the author has said in her poetry, but my thoughts never stayed in my head long enough for me to face them. Jacqueline brings some of those thoughts to paper, and reading her book over and over again helps me to deal with some of the things that I have been going through in this single's plight. The book also keeps it real from a Christian perspective because it makes me realize that although I am a Christian, I am a human being with human feelings and it's not always easy to do things God's way. As a matter of fact; it's a downright struggle. Jacqueline gives confirmation to me and my feelings. I am so glad that I had the chance to read this book. Every single person ought to have a copy (you'll want another to pass on to a single friend or relative).
