Armando Alvarez Bravo was born in Cuba in 1938. A poet, art and literary critic, essayist, narrator, professor, editor and journalist, he is also a member of the Cuban Academy of Language, correspondent to the Spanish Royal Academy and North American Academy of the Spanish Language, as well as founder and ex-president to the PEN Club of Cuban Exile Writers. Author to over 40 books, he is considered one of Cuba's best poets. His last published work was: El arte cubano en el exilio. Singladura is a Spanish word which defines the distance traveled and the course of a ship. That is the term the author uses to call this book which is the reflection of his life's work. This book is make up of two books of poems: Memorias, desmemorias and El dominio. Another part of the book, Entrevistos, destellos y certidumbres, are thouthts he likes to be remenbrance of the "greguer as" of Ram n G mez de la Serna. The book closes with a collection of short stories: Cuatro cuentos.
