Sing A New Psalm, Volume I is a book of songs to the Lord and provides insight into the spiritual journey of one man over several decades of his life. The book includes poems, mostly written in the early morning hours, while the poet sat in prayer to and worship of his Heavenly Father. It originally provided one poem each day of each month to help the reader cope; but now the poems, or psalms, are simply numbered; much like the Psalms of old. Volume I has been updated to include psalms written from 1988 through 2015. These are the songs, written to our Lord, while living in the northeastern countryside of the state of Maryland. These include the very beginnings of Poteet's writing of love songs to his Lord.

Sing A New Psalm, Volume I is Poteet's latest edition. It includes more than 300 songs to the Lord. The poet sings to illuminate his journey. These psalms give some meaning to the beauty of the love between Father and child; the beauty that has been shown to the poet over and over again.

The reader is invited to move along, as fast or slow as they wish; and witness the desperation, hope, awe and wonder of a poet, in love with his Heavenly Father and his earthly family, searching for answers.
