Susanne Mills works as a Wellness and Recovery Specialist. She has finally come to terms with her serious mental illness diagnosis, after many years of self-hatred and denial. Her poetry spans forty years and includes many years of suicidal behaviors, a multitude of psychiatric hospitalizations, numerous behavioral health treatments and one too many therapists. It only takes her 46 years, the support of an exceptional Advanced Practicing Nurse, the wisdom of one incredibly loud, but very gentle man, and countless nights of writing, writing and more writing to process it all. Through her poems she finds self- acceptance, and eventually learns how to make her shattered world whole again.
