Spiritual Love Story

Doris Gray's touching tribute to her late husband Alan is a compelling story. She weaves insights from her personal journey into the memoir of this remarkable man who died too young in a traffic accident. The story is well written and flows easily. I found it to be a real page-turner. It's not just the recounting of the author's marriage to Alan but also the tale of her spiritual awakening that she embraces after his departure. She is literally surrounded by love -- from family, friends and even strangers. And little pointers along the way suggest that Alan is there, too, in spirit, guiding her to the next stage of her life. Gray is astute enough to recognize that some things others might call coincidence are really messages from Alan giving her strength along the journey. Gray is very open in discussing her marriage -- from the few disagreements between them to the emotionally mature love they shared in this, for both, second marriage. She grows as a person emotionally and spiritually from knowing Alan and continues that growth even after his death. I would recommend this book as a love story as well as a fascinating account of a woman's unabashed courage and curiosity as she delves into the the spiritual realm of life.
