A Touching Love Story

Patricia is a sistah who knows who she is. However, the world does not always treat her kindly. With her ivory skin and red hair, Patricia is racially ambiguoius. Some have to look at her twice to see the Black in her. And others miss it altogether. However, Patricia is not interested in pretending to be something that she is not. She is a high school counselor and she is dedicated to her students. She takes interest in a biracial teen Kent who is having problems in school. The kids won't accept him because of his color.Patricia is a bold sistah. She forces her way into the office of successful African American businessman Morgan who is the father of Kent. Her methods are unorthodox, but this is the way that she shows that she cares about her students. At first, Morgan sees Patricia as a crazy white woman with wild red hair. Later, he realizes that she is African American. Morgan is taken aback by Patricia's brashness. And at first, he is turned off by Patricia's fair skin. Yes, his ex-wife was white, but a sistah who appears to be white is not the same. His current girlfriend is a brown skinned successful attorney who dresses in elegant clothes and is refined. She is everything that Patricia is not. The current girlfiend also lacks interest in Morgan's son. Morgan who is dark skinned is not color struck. That is not his style. He learns to accept Patrica for who she is and ends his relationship with his attorney girlfriend.Patricia and Morgan embark a romance that deals with interracial issues with Morgan's son Kent and intra-racial relations within the African American community.Significant Others is a touching love story and a must read.

Wonderful Intriguing Love Story!

this was a great story...the plots are wonderful. it was very interesting with all kinds of mystery and guessing what happened in all of the characters lives 'past and present'. ms kitt made the story interesting with all the information she had about biracial children and interracial relationships. its sad that our society cant live as one but its great to see a story that covers the facts about how these people feel *S* grab the book get comfortable and read it. you'll be surprise!

A Good, Consistant Read

SIGNIFICANT OTHERS was lengthy, yet, for a reason. The characters were fleshed out carefully and a story was developed nicely. My favorite was Kent, not because of his biracial heritage, but because of his struggle with himself to fit in somewhere...anywhere, for that matter. Kudos, Ms Kitt. A worthy accomplishment for anyone who has felt left out and want to join the human race on his or her best terms.

Realistically deals with complex issues in well defined text

Boy! was I mistaken. I passed over Ms. Kitt's book too often and delayed enjoying a really good book. She shows true depth in her character development while dealing with complex issues like prejudice, identity crisies, bi-racial and uni-racil relationships and preferences, single parenting, teen pregnancy and drug abuse, peer pressure, corporate pressures and last but not least senuality between a man and a woman. I was thankful she refrained from referring to Patricia as "Red". Good job Ms. Kitt! I will certainly be looking for more of your works. Thanks for the refreshing change from the ho-hum romance/fiction work out there and for giving your readers "something to think about"; some substance.

SANDRA KITT HAS DONE IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!!! I was very impressed by this book. I thought that Ms. Kitt's "Color of Love" was great, but this topped that one by a long shot. I enjoyed reading the real life situations, and how Patricia related to the children in her school. I really enjoyed the way the relationship started and blossomed into a rich love. It made me want to fall in love with my husband all over again. My hats off to you, Ms. Kitt, and please, please keep up the good work!!
