If you enjoy books about the Mafia, you won't want to miss Sicilian Blood by Darryl London. This is a sequel to London's Respect, which was also very good. The plot moves along at a brisk pace, the characters are well-developed and highly memorable (particularly Bephino Menesiero) and your attention is captured from the first to last page. While Sicilian Blood (and Respect) never got the promotional support to make them big sellers, both deserved to be. A third book was to be written to complete the planned trilogy, but I don't think it was published. Don't be concerned about this, as both books can "stand alone." A caution -- be prepared for lots of very descriptive violence and sex; although to me, these characteristics added to the book's excitement. Sicilian Blood is out-of-print and I think Respect is as well. But if your library or used book store has a copy, do yourself a favor and read them. They are both as good as Mario Puzo's new Mafia book, Omerta, which will become a big bestseller, and deservedly so.
