"Imagine a fizzy, soda-like drink that is drier and so much more sophisticated than soda, what with the sugar and botanical ingredients. Shrubs Amazing Wonderful " --Amy Stewart, author of The Drunken Botanist
This book is really, really heavy on the history side of things. Interesting, for sure, but there's just a lot of minutia that felt repetitive and just wasn't interesting to this reader. The recipes that are included are really basic combinations so if you are comfortable with making fruit shrubs already this book might not be what you are looking for. There are only a few 'savory' recipes and not what this reader what hoping to find when it comes to making shrubs with herbs. The instructions are there but I was hoping for something that was more spelled out, like a formal recipe, to get comfortable with then work up to experimenting more with it.
