While on a mountaineering expedition in Nepal, accomplished alpinist Paul Rose becomes traumatized by the accidental death of a Sherpa guide, resulting in years of guilt and addiction. Away from climbing for four years, Paul finally accepts a friend's invitation to ascend the two highest peaks in Mexico, Pico de Orizaba and Popocatepetl. When his friend unexpectedly cancels, Paul finds himself on a climbing trip with four strangers.It soon becomes apparent that his companions are as interested in having a good time as they are in summiting mountains. As the team deals with sickness, injury, and threats posed by the environment, Paul must face his inner demons. Obsessed with the climb and prone to ignore safety precautions, Paul finds himself battling circumstances that could potentially end his life.
