Two couples and long-time friends hatch a scheme, throwing caution to the wind, to bring some adventure into their rather predictable lives. They had hit their forties with a desire to leave the rut they were in and try something completely different. Around an early winter campfire, fueled by a few glasses of champagne, an idea was sparked, and soon took off, to quit their well-paying jobs, sell their homes, and buy a resort in northern Minnesota's lake country. This decision lead them into a tremendous change of life; with no steady paychecks, no structured schedules, no familiar faces, only their close friendship would see them through. After a search of resorts they could afford, they decide on a rundown, sixteen-cabin resort with a large, 50-slip harbor located on the shores of Thunder Lake, a massive one-hundred-thousand-acre lake deep in the heart of Ojibwe country. The work required to get the resort ready for the summer season is daunting. Yet, the endeavors of these naive but hardworking friends succeed, and soon they are pumping fuel, scooping minnows, wrapping fish fillets and filling ice cream cones as the resort season finally begins. After their first season it is clear that the steady stream of loyal, long-time guests really love the old resort. The second season brings with it even greater joys and trials. The joys came in the form of two lovable retriever pups they bring to the resort. The antics and love from these two dogs help them through the trials to come as the 'storm of the century' descends upon them with one-hundred-mile-per-hour winds felling trees and whipping the lake into a terror of waves. If this were not enough they are soon drawn into efforts to help save an Ojibwe family who is facing a dark and sinister force. Only the heroic and unified efforts of many--coupled with unexpected spiritual intervention--could confront the evil plaguing Thunder Lake and its people. Shores of Thunder Lake is a story of the true friendship, courage, and humor as four friends share their love of adventure with their retrievers, Sadie and Honey, at their sides.
