Sholan, Jolin, Rollin, Rolin are descendants of Governors, Lords, Knights and Mayors of Bourgagne, France and other areas of France. They descend from the Ancient House of "Rolin" of Ameries and Valenciennes, France to become leaders of their time. Our research begins with Governor, General Knight, Sir "Louis Rolin" (aka) chevalier, seigneur de Presilly, Rolin" and (aka) Rollin Branche de Realcamp, Longray et Presilly". His descendant Lord Knight, "Nicolas Rolin" was Chancelier de Bourgagne of France, Then we have his descendant Lord Knight Sir "Jean II Rolin" who was the Lord of Motte Beauchamp, France. The name of Rolin changed from Rollin back to Rolin, to Jolin and then to Sholan when descendants arrived in the United States, because of the misunderstanding of the French language by custom agents.
