I purchased a copy of Shirley and Pipsi, In Their Words early in January of 2009. It was a very difficult period in my 54+ years of life. I had just lost my job of many years, and my beautiful home that I had poured my heart and soul into. And, to make matters worse I broke up with my partner of 7 years. It was a bleak period in my life. I purchased this beautiful book from a women's discussion group I belonged to. It single handidly lifted my spirits and made me smile, laugh and cry all at the same time. I fell in love with the story and the two amazing women that filled every page. What Shirley and Pipsi shared together has been so inspirational to me. I believe in love, romance, humor and relationships so very much and thought for sure the one I was in was truly THE ONE...but as they say, things happen for a reason... This book has made me realize many things...and for that I am deeply grateful. I have literally treasured every page. Thank you for the example, for the inspiration and for the willingness to share such intimacy with all of us. I still believe that love at this level is possible...that is the message of this book. True, deep, inspiring and abiding love is not just for the movies, it is truly possible! Shirley and Pipsi are a perfect example of that! I was blessed to read this story and happy to pass it on to every one I meet!

More than a love story

"Shirley and Pipsi" is a semi-autobiographical story of two women living very different lives. Pipsi was married with two sons and managing a household in New York. Shirley was a single Lesbian living and teaching in Spain. A chance meeting between Pipsi's father and Shirley led to an exchange of letters between the two women.
