"No, it wasn't cherubs descending from the sky - it was far more down to earth than that Now I'm totally fascinated by the war's oddities, more so than the strategies and battles, and as such I could not get this little bit of quirky history out of my mind. I thought about it for two years while slowly weaving a fictional story around the historical facts. The result is a Christmas story that takes place from midday Christmas Eve to early Christmas morning, with flashbacks to the Civil War. It is a story of war, love and healing."
