"Get out of here, you mangy dog " yelled an old man named Bruce, as he swiftly kicked his dog Penny. "I don't have time to bother with you You ain't worth a dime; I just ought to shoot you. Now get out of here and don't come back."The poor dog hung her head, tucked her tail between her legs, and slowly limped away. She headed to the woodshed, where she lay down to rest. She was so hungry and tired. She couldn't remember the last time he had fed her. Besides, her hip hurt so badly, where he kicked her, that it was hard for her to walk. She was used to his bad behavior but that didn't make it any easier for her. She had nowhere else to go. Would she die from abuse and starvation or was there a miracle waiting somewhere out there for her?
