Shell Games & Ponzi Schemes is a collection of poems and images that span fine art and outsider art. It is a subversive expression against paradigms of violence, by turns whimsical and obscene, angry and irreverent, refined and brutalist.
This is a trade version of the limited edition of 50 copies of Shell Games & Ponzi Schemes produced between June 2021 and April 2022 in Chiapas, Mexico, with an all-manual process including silkscreen printing, hand-coloring, and Japanese-style hand-sewn stab binding.
Poems by Scott Ezell with images by Andrew Long. The poems were typed on an Olivetti manual typewriter in San Diego in the spring of 2020; the images were made in response to the poems during the following year on the road in Turkey and in Kiev, Ukraine.
This edition includes a scan of the original typer roll, made from sheets of packing paper taped together, on which the poems of part II were written.
