I happened to stumble upon this book while I was at the library about 6 years ago and I'm so thankful that I did. The story is amazing as it lets the reader know the story behind the words of a Native American woman who is living in the turn of the century. She struggles to balance in the world of her people while trying to exist in a world that will change who she is. Very well-written. I enjoyed it so much that I did not want to take the book back to the library after reading it over and over again.

I read this book 19 years ago. It is the life story of a Native American woman born at the turn of the 20th century. She is growing up on a reservation at a time when the world around her is changing drastically. This was one of those stories that changed my outlook on life. All of the characters still live in my memory. I would love to read it again if I can find it.
