Near Kings Mountain, North Carolina, one ordinary weekend, five teenage friends make a mysterious and frightening discovery in an isolated and forgotten cave. They found a human skeleton-a soldier from the Revolutionary War-untouched for nearly 226 years. On his body, a letter mentions a Native American traveler that tried to assist him.

The discovery leads them down a path they never could have imagined, to a place and time of strange and unnatural occurences, new allies, and mysterious and dangerous creatures.

Best friends Jesse, Remy, and Ash, along with their sisters, begin researching both historical and family records. Some details orignally thought to be only rumors and oddities lead them to the unlikely truth and the discovery of more mysterious properties of the cave. They are propelled toward otherworldly, unexpected, and awe-inspiring destinations.
