Shadows of Cottonwood

By Lucille Frazier Burgio

In this suspenseful prequel to "Keep Your Eyes on the Flag," High Schoolers and lifelong friends-Keri Langley, Christopher Roberts, Evan Savage, and Betsy Andrews are about to have their lives turned upside down.

President Franklin Delano Roosevelt has just announced the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. All of Cottonwood, New Mexico, is preparing for the new, harsh reality of a nation plunging into a Second World War.

Christopher and Keri have fallen in love, and after a disastrous elopement thwarted by Christopher's father, Keri is left stranded at a motel in the town of Ruidoso.

Years later, Evan returns to Cottonwood, on leave from the Air Force. Still vulnerable from her devastating elopement, Keri begins dating Evan Savage and falls head over heels in love.

Reluctantly deciding to give happiness another chance with a second marriage as the war continues to rage, a patient, calculating madness is waiting to spring-to rip three families' lives to pieces.
