'Shadows in the Water' is the sequel to 'The Waterways Girl'. Andrew Harewood and Laura Webb are now married and on their honeymoon in Venice during the period of the Venice Carnival in February where they enjoy the events of Canevale culminating in a Grand Masked Ball at the Longchamps Group hotel, situated on the Grand Canal. On their return to England they find a spanner has been put in the works with regard to the new extension to the canal museum. This threatens to put the opening date back. Not long before they leave the Longchamp Group to concentrate on Andrews civil and structural engineering consultancy, Laura becomes pregnant. Life for the Harwoods is looking good intil Laura's ex-late husbands, Francis Conner O'keefee's legacy threatens to disrupt their life, with dire consequencies.
