Luke Hansen's high school graduation party abruptly ends in a deadly encounter when a Shadowman, servant of a sorcerer known as the Dark One, attempts to kidnap him. After a group of peacekeepers, drawn to the Shadowman's power, intervene, allowing Luke to escape, he discovers that he is the missing piece in a ritual that will enable the Dark One to return to full power and conquer the galaxy. Furthermore, the peacekeepers speak of a prophecy in which a Hero, whom they also believe to be Luke, will discover a hidden power within himself that will destroy the Dark One. When Luke's hidden power finally begins to reveal itself, he realizes that instead of escaping an encounter with the Shadowman, he must confront him head-on. But if he fails, Luke's hopes of a normal life might be gone forever...and he could be the means of darkness falling across Earth.
