"Shadow Democracy" explores the leadership and political decision that changed Southeast Asia and its governments after gaining their independence from colonialism in 1945. It wasn't an easy transition for most countries who had been colonized by European nations for many generations. The USA pushed European nations to abandon colonization, so that America could move in and sponsor regimes changes toward Representative Democracies and a capitalist economy for trade with the USA. Russian and China, pushed for Asian countries to follow the Communist doctrine (with a later change to capitalism). It would lead to War between North and South Korea (1950-1953), War between North and South Vietnam (1961- 1975), and the Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945) and the Chinese Cultural Revolution between (1966-1976). As a result, more than 100 million Asians would die trying to find a form of government that will bring stability and independence. As Asia has finally found its peace and stability, tensions began to flare as capitalism and economic growth in Asia threatens global peace over dominating trade and industrialization.
