Written in English, in Persian, and in Persian spelled out in English letters - using the Englisi Farsi transliteration system - so parents who speak Persian but never learned to read it can read aloud to their kids too.

When Shaadi can't find her rooster Joojoo, she asks everyone in the village: her neighbors, the local baker, the shepherd boy. Has anyone seen her friend?

What they tell her surprises her. Shaadi has cared for Joojoo since he was a tiny chick, and she never noticed that he had grown into a big, strong bird.

Set in the red-earth village of Abyaneh, one of the oldest villages in Iran, this is a story about love, friendship, and seeing someone as they really are.
