Sexual harassment in higher education institutions

In the town of Butembo, several women's organizations are organizing awareness-raising sessions against sexual harassment in schools, colleges and universities. According to one view, sexual harassment is an excuse many female students use to justify their failures and thus their incapacity. Believing that this perception reinforces the trivialization of this reality, we carried out investigations in order to understand whether sexual harassment is really present within Butembo's higher education and university institutions, and whether there are prevention and response measures in place to contain it within the aforementioned institutions.The results of the study show that sexual harassment is a reality faced by female students in Butembo's higher education and university institutions.The same results show that Butembo's higher education institutions have not put in place specific measures to prevent and respond to sexual harassment.
