SESAME STREET BABIES get ready for naptime in many different ways that help them settle down for a short daytime snooze - reading a quiet story, singing softly, cuddling with parents, being gently... This description may be from another edition of this product.
It's Naptime, Little One is a short, simple children's book with a direct message about getting some quick sleep and anticipating the end of the short amount of sleep when it will be time to have fun once again. This book wastes no time getting the message through to a child. The first two pages depict a mom and dad looking into the crib as their child catches some Z's. This sets the mood for young children who are resisting falling asleep. They see the young child on the verge of falling asleep and they realize that they, too, need to relax and take a nap. Each of the pages in this book features a child and adult. To mix up the pictures and make it a little more fun, the characters change with each turn of the pages. The opening pages feature a "child" that resembles a baby version of Elmo. Two pages later, the book shows what looks like a baby version of the Cookie Monster. Another baby looks like Sesame Street's Grover. This continues all the way to the end of the book. The illustrations in this book are catchy mainly because they are Sesame Street related and are thus the type of illustrations any child will quickly recognize. Some of the adult characters are not necessarily taken directly from Sesame Street, but they are meant to resemble what an adult mom, dad, grandmother, etc. for one of these characters would look like. Kids who love Sesame Street (i.e.- nearly every child alive) will also love these illustrations and enjoy every page of this short book. It's Naptime, Little One is an effective book for convincing little children to fall asleep. Its message is clear and simple: Settling down for a nap is necessary for some needed rest and it isn't the same as going to sleep at night. There will still be opportunities to enjoy the day when the nap is through and you will feel better after sleeping a little. It also helps that the book offers rhyming and rhythm- two things that appeal to children in the targeted age group. It makes for an effective book that will benefit both parent and child alike.
