This monograph is a systematic study of service composition as applied to web services and multi-agent systems. The main approach uses the tools of control theory for the synthesis of the orchestrator. The model used is general in that it includes observable and non-observable actions as well as controllable and non-controllable ones. In addition to the usual fix-point algorithms, on-the-fly algorithms are developed to synthesize the orchestrator.
