Versammlinge--community events filled with songs, performances, speeches, and skits that celebrate Pennsylvania German heritage and culture--are held entirely in the Pennsylvania German Deitsch language. Some, the "groundhog lodges," feature a ceremony honoring the groundhog, while others do not.
