Separate Worlds describes the romance between George, a fifty-plus year-old conservative, religious small-town Texan, with, Andria, a thirty-seven year old Washington, DC socialite widow. They meet on an airplane on their way to England - both attempting to recover from recent losses of their spouses. Andria convinces George to let her show him the sites of British Capital and then journey with her to the Cotswolds, a picturesque section of England dotted with quaint small hamlets resembling how rural England must have looked in the 1600s. While Andria and George make love, the huge differences in their backgrounds, social and economic statuses and general outlooks on life, leads to a cool separation. Back in their own homes, each, recalls the wonderful times they spent together touring London and English countryside '? and especially their one night of love. Both begin to realize that the joy they reveled in was more than the lust which consumed them. Andria, despite eight years of marriage and many sexual encounters prior her wedding, comes to the conclusion that she is in love for the first time in her life. George, likewise, while still harboring a deep love for his departed mate, becomes aware of an even stronger attraction to Andria. He travels to Washington, DC to determine if he and Andria have the possibility of sharing a life together. They make love again, but during his week-long stay, he becomes convinced of the futility a future for them. Meanwhile, Andria is tempted by a proposal of marriage from an up-and-coming congressman, who tells her that he will, one day, be elected President - dangling the prospect of her becoming the First Lady of the Land. Which will it be, mistress of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, or small-town- Texas housewife? But love wins. Andria and George declare their love for each other and embark on rewarding lives.
